BASE METAL WRAP: Copper rose, capping the biggest quarterly advance since September, as gains in the housing market signaled higher demand in the U.S., the world’s second-largest consumer.

ENERGY WRAP: West Texas Intermediate traded near the lowest price in more than two weeks amid speculation that escalating violence in Iraq won’t disrupt supply from OPEC’s second-biggest oil producer. Brent was steady in London.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK-1 July 2014

INDIAN BENCHMARK open on a positive note tracking firm global cues. Oil marketing companies are likely to remain in focus after the government hiked the price petrol by Rs Rs 1.69 per litre and Diesel by 50 paise.

FURTHER, Shriram Transport Finance Company is set to raise Rs 3,000 crore through a public issue of secured, redeemable non-convertible debentures. Union Bank of India has proposed to raise Rs 1,386 crore through Qualified Institutional Placement to fund its business growth.

Trend in FII flows:
The FIIs were net buyers of Rs 192cr in the cash segment on Monday while the DIIs were net sellers of Rs. 181cr, as per the provisional figures released by the NSE.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET WRAP UP-30 June 2014

INDIAN BENCHMARKS edge higher… power and capital goods drive the rally.

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS maintained its momentum supported by heavy buying in financials, infra and power shares amid strong global cues. Fiscal deficit figures for the month of May and auto numbers for the month of June will be announced today.

Further, Ranbaxy rose 3% extending its Friday’s 5% rally, after US Food and Drug Administration's nod for generic version of Novartis blood pressure drug Diovan. Cipla surged 0.8% after signing a definitive agreement to acquire a 51% stake in a pharmaceuticals manufacturing and distribution business in Yemen (owned by a UAE-based parent company) for $21 million.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at 7625 and above this 7665. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 7530 and next support will be 7480.

INDIAN BENCHMARK started on a strong note with the Sensex and Nifty up 0.5% each in opening trades. The early gains were lead by financials and ITC.

FURTHER, Reliance Industries Ltd along with its partner British Petroleum is planning to invest about Rs 800 crore to carry out exploratory drilling in an offshore block in the Bay of Bengal, off the Tamil Nadu coast. Oil and Natural Gas Corp will invest over Rs 5,700 crore in redevelopment of its giant Mumbai High (North) oil and gas field off the west coast.

WEEKLY EQUITY REPORT-23 June 2014 To 28 June 2014

INDIAN BENCHMARKS ended down for the second consecutive week on profit-taking after touching record highs on June 11 and worries over escalating tensions in Iraq. However, a continued rise in crude oil prices would be negative for India's current account, rupee and inflation. The M ay WPI inflation increased to 6.01% from 5.2% in April. Reliance Industries to start offering next year fourth-generation telecommunications services as the energy major seeks to boost revenue from new business areas. Cipla collaborated with Hetero Drugs to launch a biosimilar version of ‘Darbepoetin alfa’ under the brand name Actorise.The INDIAN BENCHMARKS SENSEX ended 100 point down at 25100 and the 50-share NIFTY closed 29 point down at 7511.

ASIAN STOCKS held steady, showing stability after sharp gains in the previous session.

U.S. STOCKS finished higher in a session void of major economic indicators, as investors digested the Federal Reserve's somewhat dovish Wednesday policy statement and traded on sentiments that borrowing costs will remain low for some time to come.

EUROPEAN STOCKS were steady, as the Federal Reserve's latest policy statement continued to support market sentiment, while concerns over ongoing violence in Iraq persisted.

INDIAN INDICES are expected to remain range bound as investors await clarity on monsoon and upcoming budget before taking fresh positions amid Iraq conflict led risk aversion.Further, Stocks linked to monsoon driven rural sectors such as Mahindra and Mahindra and Hero MotoCorp, Dabur India, and Hindustan Unilever, shares would be on watch.News flow on gas pricing and power sector reforms would also be on watch.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS end flat, amid choppy trade.

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS ended flat, amid a choppy trading session, as investors turned cautious on concerns that the weak monsoon would further accelerate inflation while the continuing crisis in Iraq also weighed on sentiment.

Further, Reliance Capital ended up 1.7% on a report that Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings Inc may buy 10% stake in the Anil Ambani-owned company by paying $400 million for new shares. BASE METAL WRAP: Copper fell, paring a second weekly advance, amid concern that demand to use metals as collateral for loans may decline in China and as a Federal Reserve official signalled U.S. interest rates could rise by March. Zinc rose, trading near a 16-month high, as inventories in warehouses tracked by the London Metal Exchange declined amid signs of improving demand.

ENERGY WRAP: Natural gas futures posted the biggest one-day drop in seven weeks after U.S. stockpiles increased more than forecast last week. Brent and West Texas Intermediate crudes headed for the first weekly declines since violence erupted in northern Iraq, as the crisis has so far spared oil output from OPEC’s second-largest producer.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP:
Gold traded below a two-month high, on course for the first back-to-back quarterly advance since 2011, as investors assessed the outlook for borrowing costs in the U.S. and physical demand.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS end lower on June F&O expiry

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS ended 1% lower following the expiry of June F&O series dragged down by oil shares after the government defers its decision on gas price hike by three months till December 31, 2014.

Further, ITC marginally positive after Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock to overweight from equal-weight and increased the price target to Rs 400 rupees from Rs 360. Aban Offshore closed nearly 5% up after Macquarie upgraded the stock from underperform to outperform and raised its target to Rs 1,090 from Rs 430.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced the decision to continue with low excise duty for six months till December 31 for auto, consumer durables and capital goods sector. The declaration spiked auto shares in the last 10 minutes of trade with Maruti and Bajaj Auto closing the day with near 3 percent gains.

Cox and Kings promoters release pledged shares
The promoter group of Cox and Kings Ltd., Sneh Sadan Graphic Services Ltd., Urshila Kerkar and Liz Investments has released 20.32 lakhs shares from pledge, which comprises 1.48% of the total share capital of the company.

RCom plans to raise Rs 4,300 cr
Reliance Communications plans to raise Rs 4,300 crore by way of a qualified institutional placement (QIP) of shares and a preferential offer to promoters. The telco will use the proceeds to repay debt.
