DAILY COMMODITY MARKET STRATEGY-1 Dec 2014

The MCX Crude Oil December futures have exhibited a gloomy trade for the fourth straight day owing to big fall in the international Crude Oil markets.On Friday, Crude Oil futures tested a low of Rs 4,192, before settling with a significant loss of almost 2 per cent to Rs 4,210.

The MCX Natural Gas December futures are hovering around its short-long-term moving averages on the daily charts for the last two trading sessions.On Friday, the energy contracts tested a low of Rs 256, but however recovered losses and ended with a loss of 0.4 per cent at Rs 260.

BULLION

Gold February future has dropped over 2 per cent at $ 1,150.70.Silver March future has cracked 4 per cent at $ 14.933.Platinum January future has slipped 1.5 per cent at $ 2.803.

ENERGY

Crude Oil January future has tumbled 2.2 per cent at $ 64.67.Brent Oil January has declined by 2.4 per cent at $ 68.44.Natural Gas January future has moved down 1.9 per cent at $ 4.007.

BASE METAL

Copper March future is trading with a loss of 1.5 per cent at $ 2.803.

Sensex, Nifty flat; Hero, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank gain

Equity benchmarks are directionless after positive start. The Sensex declined 17.86 points to 28676.13 and the Nifty fell 1.70 points to 8586.55.

Sun Pharma, SBI, Hero Motocorp, NTPC, Infosys, Asian Paints, BPCL and HCL Technologies topped the buying list in early trade, up 1-3.6 percent. However BHEL, Coal India, Reliance Industries, HUL, ONGC, Cairn India and DLF lost 0.5-2 percent.

The Indian rupee slipped by 21 paise in the early trade on Monday. It has opened at 62.23 per dollar versus 62.02 on Friday.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS ended at record closing high ; state run lenders gain

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS hit a record high on Friday, rising for the third straight session, led by gains in lenders such as SBI after the government said it would cut its stake in state-run banks.

The positivity in the market was injected by falling global crude oil prices which will help ease in inflation headline number, raising hopes of a rate cut by  RBI on December 2, 2014, monetary policy review.

Just Dial rose 2.02% after the RBI notified that foreign institutional investors/registered foreign portfolio investors can invest up to 75% of the company's equity capital from earlier 49%.

Further, DLF rose 0.81% on media buzz that Supreme Court granted status quo on Punjab & Haryana High Court's order of re-auctioning land allotted to DLF by the Haryana government.

Just Dial rose 2.02% after the RBI notified that foreign institutional investors/registered foreign portfolio investors can invest up to 75% of the company's equity capital from earlier 49%.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at 8675 and above this 8725. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 8588 and next support will be 8535.

SBI Mutual Fund plans to launch Islamic equity fund next month: reports

The scheme opens on December 1 for subscription and closes on December 15.SBI Mutual Fund is planning to launch an Islamic equity fund next month, says report."We will be launching the SBI Shariah Equity Fund on December 1. The open-ended scheme will be a diversified equity fund, including large, mid and small cap companies," SBI MF Chief Marketing Officer DP Singh reported. The scheme opens on December 1 for subscription and closes on December 15.

RBI allows Just Dial to raise foreign shareholding to 75%; stk gains

Shares of Just Dial gained over 3%, touching to Rs1620.9, after the RBI notified that foreign institutional investors/registered foreign portfolio investors can invest up to 75% of the company's equity capital from earlier 49%.The Reserve Bank of India yesterday, notified that foreign portfolio investors (FIIs)/registered foreign portfolio investors ( RFPIs) can invest up to 75% of its equity capital from 49% earlier. Just Dial has already passed resolutions at its board of directors' level and a special resolution by the shareholders agreeing for enhancing the limit for the purchase of its equity shares and convertible debentures by FIIs, the RBI said. Total holding of FIIs in Just Dial stood at 26.64% as on September 30, 2014.

Bajaj Corp surges 5%

The company's board approved hike in FII investment limit to 49 per cent. Bajaj Corp rebounded into the positive zone in the mid-noon deals, and zoomed to a high of Rs. 335 after the board passed a resolution approving hike in FII investment limit. The board has approved hike in FII investment limit to 49 per cent from present 24 per cent. Following which, the stock soared 7.3 per cent in intra-day deals. The stock now continues to trade on a firm note and is up 4.8 per cent at Rs. 330. The counter has seen trades of around 181,000 shares as against the two-week daily average volume of around 1.30 million shares on the BSE.

DLF zooms after SC grants relief

The stock has jumped almost 7 per cent from the days low.DLF recovered all the early losses and bounced sharply into the positive terrain after Supreme Court granted status quo on HC order of reauctioning land. Punjab & Haryana HC had cancelled 350 acres of land allotment. he stock zoomed almost 7 per cent from the day's low of Rs. 145 to touch a high of Rs. 155. Currently, DLF is up 3.3 per cent at Rs. 153.So far during the day 1.7 million shares have been traded at the counter, as compared to its two-week daily average volume of 1.6 million shares on the BSE.

BF Utilities has announced the following audited results for the quarter & year ended September 30, 2014 (YoY):For the Quarter ended September 30, 2014Net profit of the company fell by 25.78% to Rs4.26 crore Vs Rs5.74 crore (YoY).Total Income decreased by 21.81% to Rs9.71 crore Vs Rs12.42 crore (YoY).For the Year ended September 30, 2014.Net profit of the company fell by 73.61% to Rs1.29 crore Vs Rs4.89 crore (YoY).Total Income decreased by 14.92% to Rs25.19 crore Vs Rs29.61 crore (YoY).

Cipla, Strides inks deal with MMV

Cipla and Strides Arco lab, each, has signed collaboration agreements with Switzerland-based Medicines for Malaria Venture ( MMV) for the development of rectal artesunate for pre-referral treatment of children with severe malaria. The collaborations are done under the MMV-led Improving Severe Malaria Outcomes project, funded by UNITAID, aims to develop a rectal artesunate product for submission to World Health Organisation ( WHO) prequalification. The goal is to achieve WHO-prequalification of a rectal artesunate product by 2016.

RIL up after CAG allows to recover cost incur on KG-D6

Reliance Industries Ltd  ( RIL) rose nearly 3%, touching to Rs1016.2, after the a Comptroller & Auditor General ( CAG) panel asked the government to allow the company to recover $160 million of cost incurred on the KG-D6 block and suggested the government to resolve all pending issues of the company. the panel said the government should act to raise KG-D6 output which fell drastically in the last three years. The panel has also asked the oil ministry to approve the RIL’s D6's budget on time.

The MCX Crude Oil December futures have tumbled for the third consecutive day. On Thursday, Crude Oil futures witnessed a free-fall mode and tested a low of Rs 4,262, before settling with a huge loss of 6.3 per cent to Rs 4,291 on the back of big fall in the international Crude Oil markets as OPEC fails to take price action.

The MCX December Natural Gas futures have slipped into the negative zone after two day rally. On Thursday, the energy contracts ended with a significant loss of 5 per cent to Rs 261 tracking losses for NYMEX Natural Gas futures on holiday-thinned trade.

BULLION

Gold February future has dropped over a per cent at $ 1,184.10.Silver March future has cracked 3 per cent at $ 16.118.Platinum January future has shed 0.4 per cent at $ 1,212.30.

ENERGY

Crude Oil January future has plunged 6.4 per cent at $ 68.93.Brent Oil January has slipped over 0.5 per cent at $ 72.48.Natural Gas January future has moved down 0.5 per cent at $ 4.3217.

Sensex jumps 300 pts, Nifty eyes 8600

The Sensex has opened higher by 291 points at 28,730 mark whereas the Nifty gas gained 87 points at 8,583 levels.

Equity benchmarks started of December series on a strong note with the Sensex and Nifty hitting an all-time highs led by banking and financials.

U.S. court refuses Ranbaxy appeal to block ANDA nod for 2 drugs, negative Drug firm Ranbaxy Laboratories today said the DC Federal Court in the U.S. has not granted the company temporary restraining order to block the U.S. health regulator from approving other ANDAs for generic versions of digestive disorder medicine Nexium and anti-viral Valcyte. The Court has not granted temporary restraining order to block FDA approval for other Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) for generic version of Nexium and Valganciclovir, Ranbaxy Laboratories had sued USFDA over revoking an approval to sell generic versions of Nexium and Valcyte in the US market.

Dr Reddy's gets USFDA observations for API plant

Dr Reddy's gets USFDA observations for its API plant in Srikakulam; sentimentally negative Reddy's Laboratories has received inspectional observations from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for one of its active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) manufacturing plants located in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. The observations came after a team of the US FDA visited the site recently. According to the company, these observations are largely related to procedural and other compliances of the plant systems and would not impact the normal activity of the plant in any way.

The Supreme Court also asked its managing director and suspended BCCI chief N Srinivasan to furnish details of the company's shareholding pattern and the composition of its Board members. Soon, the stock has tumbled 5.7 per cent from day's high to touch a low at Rs. 92.65. Now, the stock is down 1.7 per cent at Rs. 93.65.

The MCX Natural Gas December futures have moved higher for the second consecutive day. On Wednesday, the Natural Gas futures faced resistance around the lower-end of the Bollinger Band (Rs 281), but however trimmed gains and ended with a gain of more than a per cent at Rs 274 on account of fresh buying.

The MCX December Crude Oil futures have eased for the second straight day. On Wednesday, Crude Oil prices tested a low of Rs 4,554, before closing with a significant loss of 1.3 per cent at Rs 4,579 tracking losses for the international Crude Oil market.

BULLION

Gold February 2015 future is down 0.2 per cent at $ 1,195.50.Silver March contract has tumbled over a per cent to $ 16.438.Platinum January delivery is marginally down at $ 1,226.80.

ENERGY

Crude Oil January future has slipped nearly 2 per cent to $ 72.76.Brent Oil January expiry has also dropped 1.5 per cent at $ 76.51.Natural Gas January future is up 0.2 per cent at $ 4.341.

BASE METAL

Copper March contract has added 0.2 per cent at $ 2.962.

Sensex, Nifty flat; ITC declines, Tata Power rises

The Sensex fell 13.62 points to 28372.57 and the Nifty declined 3.55 points to 8472.20.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET WRAP UP-26 Nov 2014

INDIAN BENCHMARKS edge up on hopes of rate cut

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS  edged up on Wednesday, gaining for a fourth session in five, led by blue chips on continued hopes the central bank would follow other countries such as Japan and China in easing monetary policy to boost economic growth. The RBI holds its policy review on Tuesday amid growing expectations it could cut interest rates after a sharp fall in consumer inflation.

ITC, which fell 5.2 percent in the previous session on the government's move to ban the sale of unpackaged cigarettes, gained 2.3 percent as analysts said the rule would have limited impact.

Further , Financial Technologies rose 4.7 percent after it sold its stake in MCX-SX for 884.19 billion rupees(14.30 billion US dollar) to well-known investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.

Bajaj Auto closed down 1.1 percent and Bharti Airtel Ltd fell 2.5 percent after Nigeria's central bank devalued the naira by 8 percent and raised interest rates sharply on Tuesday.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at  8545 and above this 8610. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 8430 and next support will be 8375.

Tata Power announces CERC passes Tariff order for Maithon Power Plant

Tata Power Company announced that Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has passed the Tariff Order for the 1050 MW power plant of Maithon Power (MPL) for FY 2011-14. MPL is a joint venture between the Company (74%) and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) (26%). The new tariff would be applicable from COD for each of the generating units. This will pave the way for meeting the targeted returns from the project.

Aurobindo Pharma to raise $350 million through issue of securities

The board of directors has approved raising of $ 350 million (over Rs2,000 crore) through the issue of securities. This will be through any of the available modes including follow-on offer and QIP. The proceeds would be utilised for expansion and growth of Aurobindo. The company recently emerged as the top bidder for the acquisition of US nutritional supplement maker Natrol with $132.5 million (a little over Rs800 crore) and also disclosed a planned capex of Rs1300 crore in next two years to expand capacities including a new capacity for production of peptide based drugs. We have Buy rating on Aurobindo Pharma with price target of Rs1272

Lupin: FII investment limit increased to 49%

The Foreign Investment Promotion Board ( FIPB) has granted the Lupin’s request to increase the FII investment limit to 49%. Currently, the FII investment in Lupin stands at 32% (by end of September 2014).The large cap company had applied to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to increase the FII shareholding limit to 49% in October 2013.The central bank approached the FIPB for clarity on policy. According to government move, investment in brown field needs FIPB approval while investment in green field does not need FIPB approval.

DAILY COMMODITY MARKET STRATEGY-26 Nov 2014

The MCX Crude Oil futures wiped out four days rally in yesterday's trade and slipped into the negative zone. On Tuesday, the energy futures tested a low of Rs 4,622, before settling with a loss of 2.3 per cent to Rs 4,641 on account of profit-booking.

As per the daily charts, MCX Crude Oil futures are bearish below its price-to-moving averages like - 20-DMA (Rs 4,775), 50-DMA (Rs 5,153) and 200-DMA (Rs 5,862).

BULLION

Gold February and Silver March 2015 contracts are marginally up in early morning session at $ 1,199 and $ 16.638, respectively.Platinum January delivery has moved down 0.3 per cent at $ 1,220.25.

ENERGY

Crude Oil January future has declined 0.3 per cent at $ 73.89.Brent Oil and Natural Gas January series are up 0.15 per cent each at $ 78.23 and $ 4.442, respectively.

BASE METAL

Copper March expiry is up 0.2 per cent at $ 2.973.

Sensex, Nifty down; weak crude no cheer; ITC up 2%

Benchmark indices opened weak Wednesday, with the Sensex down around 40 points to 28298 and the Nifty down 18 points to 8845.

Banking shares were under pressure in early trade, with the Bank Nifty down around 140 points to 17896.

Shares were up around 2 percent to Rs 362 even as the government has accepted the recommendation of an expert panel to ban sale of loose cigarettes, and has moved a Cabinet note to tweak the anti-tobacco law.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK-26 Nov 2014

INDIAN BENCHMARK  are likely to open little changed today tracking a subdued trend in fellow Asian peers and a flat closing at Wall Street overnight as an upward revision of Q3 GDP data was offset by a dip in US consumer confidence and slowing home prices gains, clouding the outlook for the world’s biggest economy. SGX Nifty is trading 15.00 points lower.
