BULLION

Gold February and Silver March futures are trading marginally higher at $ 1,184.10 and $ 15.695, respectively.Platinum January contract is trading on a flat note at $ 1,209.15.

ENERGY

Crude Oil February contract has has shed 0.7 per cent at $ 53.73.Brent Oil February future is trading almost unchanged at $ 57.73.Natural Gas February delivery is down 0.05 per cent at $ 2.916.

The MCX January for Natural Gas futures slipped for the second straight day. On the last day on the year 2014, the energy futures ended with a significant loss of 4.2 per cent to Rs 198 owing to sharp fall in NYMEX Natural Gas prices.

The MCX Crude Oil January futures slipped back into the negative territory on the last day of year 2014. Yesterday, the energy futures slipped to a low of Rs 3,344, before closing with a significant loss of 1.6 per cent (Rs 54) to Rs 3,369 following NYMEX Crude prices and strength in the Indian rupee.

BASE METAL

Copper March contract is trading unchanged at $ 2.827.

The Indian rupee was under pressure, falling 22 paise to 63.25 a dollar.

The market continued to trade lower on mild profit booking on the very first day of the year 2015. The Sensex fell 47.59 points to 27451.83 and the Nifty declined 14.60 points to 8268.10 while the broader markets outperformed frontline indices.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.5 percent each. About two shares advanced for every share declining on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The Nifty is expected to oscillate between 7,600 on the downside and 9,500 on the upside, according to Amit Gupta of ICICI Direct.

Shares of HDFC, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ITC, ICICI Bank, Infosys, NTPC, Dr Reddy's Labs, Coal India, Sesa Sterlite, Hindalco Industries and HUL were down 0.3-1 percent. However, SBI, Cipla, Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharma, BHEL and Tata Power bucked the trend, gaining 0.3-1 percent.

HDFC, Infosys, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Reliance are the major draggers accounting for a loss of 45 points on the Sensex.

BULLION

Gold February future has added 0.2 per cent at $ 1,202.50.Silver March future has declined 0.2 per cent at $ 16.240.Platinum January contract is trading on a flat note at $ 1,218.05.

ENERGY

Crude Oil February contract has moved down 0.6 per cent at $ 53.83.Brent Oil February future is marginally down at $ 57.55.Natural Gas February delivery has moved up 0.2 per cent at $ 3.100.

The MCX Crude Oil January futures ended in green for the first time in last three trading sessions. The buying in the energy futures was on account of bargain-hunting at lower level and pull-back in NYMEX Crude Oil prices.

The MCX Natural Gas January futures slipped back into the negative territory, and have wiped out half of its Mondays losses.  Yesterday, the energy futures ended with a significant loss of over 3 per cent at Rs 197 owing to sharp fall in NYMEX Natural Gas market despite cold weather outlook

Nifty opens below 8250; M&M, Maruti, Bajaj Auto weak

The market has opened last trading day of 2014 on a very flat note. The Sensex is down 6.06 points at 27397.48 and the Nifty down 2.55 points at 8245.70. About 334 shares have advanced, 197 shares declined, and 38 shares are unchanged.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS , Tepid trade, low volumes; minor gains

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS ended flat on weaker regional shares offset optimism over additional reforms a day after the government passed an executive order to ease land-acquisition rules. The S&P  BSE Se nsex and CNX Nifty ended 0.03%-0.02% higher each.

Lanco Infratech rose 4.27%, after the firm said that its board passed circular resolution approving the allotment of 5.45 crore shares at an issue price of Rs6.23 per share to ICICI Bank as per CDR package for the firm.

Godrej Properties rose 3.25%, after the company said it has entered into an agreement with Godrej & Boyce to develop a new mixed-use project on the property at Pirojshanagar, Vikhroli West, Mumbai.

IDBI Bank rose 2.74%, after the bank said that its board has approved the sale of bank's part or whole shareholding of 48.18 lakh shares in Credit Analysis & Research in one or more lots.

The MCX Crude Oil January futures have been trading on a negative note for the third straight day, On Monday, the energy contracts tumbled as much as Rs 3,369, before settling with a significant loss of 3.7 per cent (Rs 133) to Rs 3,414 per barrel owing to sharp fall in NYMEX Crude Oil market.

The MCX January Natural Gas futures ended in positive territory for the first time in last six trading sessions. The buying in the energy futures was on account of bargain-hunting at lower level as the commodity had slumped over 17.5 per cent past six trading sessions.

L&T wins Rs894 crore order from ONGC

Shares in Larsen and Toubro (L&T) were trading higher by nearly 1% at Rs1,502 on NSE after the company said it has bagged an offshore contract valued at Rs894 crore from the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC).L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a fully owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has bagged an offshore contract valued at Rs 894 crore from the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC) for additional development of the Vasai East project.

Lupin gets USFDA approval for HIV drug Epivir Tablets

Lupin has received US health regulator's approval to market a generic version of ViiV Healthcare's Epivir Tablets (generic name: Lamivudine tablets), used in treating HIV infection, in the US market.Epivir tablets are indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus ( HIV-1) infection. Epivir generates near US$39.7mn annually in US market.

PM, FM, RBI governor to hold discussion with PSU Bank Chiefs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with FM Arun Jaitley, RBI Governor, Finance Secretary will hold discussions with chiefs of public sector banks on January 2nd and 3rd to work out an action plan for major reforms in the banking sector. BULLION

Gold February and Silver March futures are trading on a flat note at $ 1,195.00 and $ 16.138, respectively.Platinum January contract is marginally down at $ 1,216.15.

ENERGY

Crude Oil February contract has rallied a per cent at $ 55.26.Brent Oil February futures has gained 0.4 per cent at $ 59.90.Natural Gas February delivery has moved up 0.3 per cent at $ 3.072.

After registering significant loss of over 18.4 per cent (Rs 43) in the last five trading session, the MCX Natural Gas December futures staged a smart recovery and ended on a flat note at Rs 192 on Friday, owing to its December contract expiry on 26 December.

BASE METAL

Copper March contract has advanced 0.7 per cent at $ 2.835.
