Nifty opens April series on weak note, Sensex falls; HDFC sheds

Stock Tips
The market has started off April series and financial year 2016-17 on a negative note, tracking weak Asian cues. The Sensex fell 79.75 points to 25262.11 and the Nifty declined 30.05 points to 7708.35 on profit booking.

Bharti Airtel, GAIL, Hindalco, Tata Steel, M&M, Aurobindo Pharma and BPCL were losers in early trade while BHEL, Wipro, Coal India, ITC, Cipla, Asian Paints, HCL Tech and Wipro gained.

Among the plans would be a likely stake sale by Godrej Investments and Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company and founder and Chief Executive Officer Manu Parpia in the company. Parpia holds 6.7 percent stake in  Geometric.

Nifty reclaims 7750, Sensex flat; Infosys gains, HDFC falls

The market gained some strength after opening flat. The Sensex rose 74.30 points to 25412.88 and the Nifty reclaimed 7750 level, up 18 points to 7753.20.

Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Auto, Lupin, Sun Pharma, Infosys, Vedanta, Tata Power and UltraTech Cement were early gainers while ONGC, Adani Ports, Coal India, HDFC, SBI, Idea Cellular and PNB were losers.

The Indian rupee has opened marginally higher at 66.35 per dollar today against previous close of 66.37.

Asian markets were trading mixed while Wall Street and European markets closed higher yesterday.

Sensex rebounds 200 pts, Nifty above 7650 on global cues

The market rebounded on Wednesday after a sell-off in previous two consecutive sessions, tracking positive global cues

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 208.93 points to 25109.39 and the 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 63.25 points to 7660.25. The market breadth was also strong as about 844 shares advanced against 138 declining shares on BSE.

Lupin, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, Hindalco Industries, Vedanta and UltraTech Cement topped buying list in early trade.

The Indian rupee has opened marginally higher at 66.48 per dollar today against previous close of 66.54.

Sensex above 25000, Nifty eyes 7650; banks, metals, FMCG lead

Equity benchmarks gained marginal strength amid choppy trade, supported by banks, FMCG, metals and auto stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 61.47 points to 25027.87 and the 50-share NSE Nifty advanced 23.55 points to 7638.65.

The broader markets also traded higher with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rising 0.2 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively. About 899 shares advanced against 632 declining shares on BSE.

Reliance Industries, ITC, Axis Bank, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, SBI, Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel gained 1-3 percent while Lupin and Sun Pharma plunged more than 2 percent.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK- 22 Mar 2016

The market continued to see profit booking in morning trade after one percent rally in previous session while the broader markets outperformed benchmarks.

The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 75.81 points to 25209.56 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 26.80 points to 7677.45. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained half a percent each.

The market breadth remained strong as about 1043 shares advanced against 667 declining shares on Bombay Stock Exchange.

Sensex above 25000, up 150 pts; Nifty reclaims 7650, ITC leads

The market extended gain in morning trade with the Sensex rising 153.10 points to 25105.84, aided by banking & financials and FMCG stocks. The Nifty reclaimed 7650, rising 46.15 points to 7650.50.

ITC was the biggest contributor to Sensex's gains, up 3 percent. Credit Suisse maintains its outperform rating on the stock, stating that it can rejoice as most states have not hiked value added tax on cigarettes in Budget.

Among others, HDFC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, HUL and Bharti Airtel gained more than 1 percent while Lupin, Dr Reddy's Labs and BHEL declined over a percent.

Sensex, Nifty remain firm; Hindalco, TCS, BHEL jump 1-3%

The market is firm on its feet as the Sensex is up 94.58 points or 0.4 percent at 24771.95. The Nifty is up 30.95 points or 0.4 percent at 7543.50. About 977 shares have advanced, 715 shares declined, and 105 shares are unchanged.

Indian equity benchmarks are tipped to witness a gap up opening on Thursday tracking a bullish trend in markets across Asia and a positive finish at Wall Street overnight after the US Federal Reserve scaled back its trajectory for raising interest rates this year, citing rising global economic and financial risks to growth in the world’s biggest economy, bolstering risk taking appetite. SGX Nifty is trading 79.50 points higher. Indian stock markets clawed back losses to close higher on Wednesday, led by gains in beaten-down healthcare stocks such as Lupin LUPN.NS and as a rise in crude oil prices propped up global markets.. The S&P BSE Sensex and CNX Nifty ended 0.53%-0.51% higher each.On Wednesday (March 16, 2016), 30-share Sensex ended at 24682.48, up by 131.31 points, or by 0.53%, and the NSE Nifty ended at 7498.75, up by 38.15 points, or by 0.51%.
                                                                   
Global Markets:
Asian shares gained across the board on Thursday and the dollar was on the defensive after suffering substantial losses as risk appetite revived after the U.S. Federal Reserve reduced the number of interest rate hikes expected this year.
European stocks ended little changed on Wednesday, coming off session highs after a report showed U.S. inflation rose more than expected last month, with gains for energy and auto company shares offset by a weaker banking sector.
U.S. stocks rallied after the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged and signaled more gradual increases..

Sensex falls 100 pts, Nifty breaks 7450; banks, pharma drag

Equity benchmarks as well as broader markets continued to consolidate with a negative bias. Banking & financials, healthcare and select auto stocks fell while index heavyweights ITC, Infosys and Reliance Industries supported.

The Sensex declined 106.62 points to 24444.55 and the Nifty slipped 25.80 points to 7434.80. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell 0.7 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively. Shares of HDFC, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors, Lupin, M&M, Dr Reddy's Labs and Bharti Airtel declined 1-2 percent while ITC gained more than 1 percent.

Ibandronate Sodium Tablets is used in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

Nifty eyes 7550, Sensex up over 150 pts; ITC, Maruti gainers

The Sensex is up 156.11 points or 0.6 percent at 24779.45, and the Nifty up 47.35 points or 0.6 percent at 7533.50. About 1160 shares have advanced, 502 shares declined, and 88 shares are unchanged.

The European Central Bank on Thursday cut its main refinancing rate to zero from 0.05 percent and increased monthly asset buys to 80 billion euros from 60 billion euros.

Sensex, Nifty open flat; GAIL & ONGC gain, Infosys falls

The market has opened on a flat note with the Sensex rising 22.64 points to 24816.60 and the Nifty advancing 15.25 points to 7547.05.

The market gained further on support from index heavyweights Reliance Industries, HDFC and ITC.

The broader markets also traded in line with benchmarks; the BSE Midcap gained 0.5 percent and Smallcap climbed nearly 1 percent.

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 130.26 points to 24776.74 and the 50-share NSE Nifty surged 37.15 points to 7522.50. More than two shares advanced for every share declining on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

ITC, Tata Motors, Lupin, ONGC, GAIL and BHEL topped buying list on Sensex, up more than 2 percent followed by HDFC, L&T, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank and M&M with more than 1 percent upside. Infosys, TCS, ICICI Bank, HUL and SBI declined around a percent.

Apollo Tyres will invest up to USD 600 million (about Rs 4,000 crore) next fiscal to enhance capacity at its plants in India and abroad. The company, which announced its foray into the two-wheeler market, will start rolling out tyres from its upcoming plant in Hungary by January 2017.

"We plan to spend around USD 500-600 million as part of our capital expenditure in the next fiscal on our two plants in Chennai and Hungary," Apollo Tyres Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Neeraj Kanwar told PTI. He further said the company is doubling the capacity of its Chennai plant to 12,000 truck and bus radials (TBR) a day from 6,000 earlier.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK- 3 Mar 2016

The market continued to see buying interest with the Sensex rising 190.55 points or 0.79 percent to 24433.53. The Nifty held 7400 level, up 52.10 points or 0.71 percent to 7420.95.

Tata Steel topped buying list on Sensex, up 4 percent. Tata Motors rallied 3.7 percent after Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 25.3 percent year-on-year to 7,929 units in February, majorly supported by Land Rover that grew by 30.5 percent to 6,417 units.

Dr Reddy's Labs jumped 2.5 percent on approval from the US Food & Drug Administration for Palonosetron hydrochloride injection, anti-nausea drug.

Infosys climbed over a percent as Morgan Stanley maintained overweight rating on the stock.

ICICI Bank lost 2.7 percent and SBI declined 0.9 percent on profit booking. Maruti Suzuki slipped 0.6 percent despite company decided to hike car prices in range of Rs 1,441-34,494.

Sensex, Nifty up over 1.5%; Mid & Smallcap outperform, ITC down

Equity benchmarks continued to rally with the Sensex rising 408.51 points or 1.72 percent to 24187.86 and the Nifty climbing 120.30 points or 1.67 percent to 7342.60.

ICICI Bank and SBI were leading contributors to Sensex's gains, up 6-9 percent. Hindalco also gained 6 percent and BHEL was up 6.5 percent on order worth Rs 5,600 crore in Tamil Nadu.

HDFC, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, L&T, Hero and Adani Ports were up 1-5 percent.

Mahindra & Mahindra slipped over 2 percent on profit taking. Wipro and TCS lost half a percent as rupee recovered sharply in three trading sessions.
